Liya and Sarim are growing up faster and faster Liya rolled over today for the first time and Sarim is trying to crawl now.

This is something which is going to be undertaken for dental practices and also for dentists themselves. the purpose of the appraisal is to make sure the dental practice is up to date with all the paper work and also is following recommended guidliens when it comes to infection control and clinical governance etc

we had a very inspirational training day today at lifestyle dental in preston.
Chris Barrow on of the leading business coaches in teh dental profession came to the dental practice and spent a full day giving advice and explaining how we can improve the dental practice and the dentistry

some personal reflections

its been a busy few days with lifestyle dental. we are really begining to help people achieve that difference in their smile and get that confidence with their smile

we have a training day on friday so will be discussing the upcoming few months and how we are intending to plan the next few months.

Life with the twins has a lot busier Sarim just learned to do his first roll over and i am sure Liya will follow suit very soon.

I am also reading Steven Coveys book The 8TH Habit -- will review on amazon once finished

really training hard at moment too doing plenty of high octane training

what types of tooth whitening are there ?
well there are over a few hundred ways to whiten your teeth
of the most popular are

1, The home whitening system or tray system as it is often known as this consists of having a tray made which fits over your teeth and then this is worn with gel inside the tray and this gradually whitens your teeth over a period of weeks

2,The surgery whitening or laser whitening or instant whitening this usually involves treatment by a dentist in a treatment room and the teeth are whitened over a short period of time and in most cases you can achieve upto four or five shade changes depending upon the system used and the type of technique used.

the most commonly asked questions people ask are

Is it safe? - yes if done properly by a dentist then nothing to worry about

Will it last - yes usually for up to four to five years at which point you may need a top up although results can vary depending upon your diet

A 12 hour day of helping people

I just finished a 12 hour day today at Lifestyle dental in Preston.
We started at 8.30 saw a lady for an emergency tooth ache and then had a morning meeting and then worked till 1pm. We had lunch till 2pm and then worked till 5pm with a break of 20 minutes and then worked through till 8pm ...

treatments that we did included
tooth whitening
white fillings
and cosmetic dentistry

and it all went by in a flash
why well i guess it was mainly because we enjoy what we do at lifestyle dental
providing dental care for Preston. fast becoming one of the leading dental practices in Preston.

Visitors, guests and visitors

Over the past few days we have had many visitors to Lifestyle Dental.
On friday Dr Chris May came to lifestyle dental. Dr May is going to be an Appraiser and going to appraise dental practices up and down the country. Rather like restaurent or hotel reviews or like ofsted for schools..(this is something which will be compulsory in the not so distant future as well as appraisals for individual dentists)

Lifestyle Dental was very privledged to be one of the first practices to be appraised by Dr May and we are now awaiting the report and the review although from first impressions I think he was very impressed as to how well run the clinic is.

Once we have the report will give you further details.

On Saturday we got another visitor and that was Kris timmins, a young enthusiastic man who spent a day with lifestyle dental to see how we worked. He was very impressed by the design of the practice and also the different gadgets at the practice...

Teeth Whitening

Recently we have had lots of people asking about tooth whitening and the different systems out there it can be quite confusing which one is for you.

well there are three main ones

The over the counter - these are the ones that are sold in the supermarkets and in the stores. These can be quite good and you can obtain some good results with these there are many out there and sometimes you may need to try a few to find one that works.

The Tray system - these are done by most dentists throughout the country and consist of a bespoke made tray for your mouth and then specialized whitening gel which is kept at optimum conditions. the gel is then inserted into the trays and the trays are worn for a period of time (depending upon the system used). These do achieve significant results but do require some work and time.

The Laser/instant systems - these are the instant result systems. and these involve usually some time in the treatment room with a dentist and also a light which is used to accelerate the results that can be achieved. These systems do achieve significant results although they are not for everyone and this is something which needs to be discussed with the dentist prior to undertaking this procedure..

I have had alot of questions over the last few weeks about veneers what are they ? how can they be done etc

so just to briefly expalin

a veneer is a think layer of porcelain material which can be as thin as 0.2mm and they are used to hide the underlying tooth

so why should you need to hide the underlying tooth?

well if the tooth is particulary discoloured then this could be one option that can be considered or if the tooth is mis-shaped then agian this can be considered. The veneer can be cemented to the front of the tooth to change the shape of the tooth.

so if you have a combination of mishapen teeth and discoloured teeth then veneers may be an option which would be worth considering. You would need to discuss with a dentist to see if this form of treatment woudl be suitable for you.

Hello and welcome to this blog the first of what I hope will become to be a very popular and well read blog .

Lifestyle Dental is now almost ofur months old and what has happened in that time?

We opened in September and had a very good start had a open evening on the 26th of August which attracted a great deal of attention and also attracted the Mayor of preston and generated media intrest as people came to see the new practice.

Over the months we have continued to see new clients we have developed the Lifestyle examination which is very detailed and involves a photographic tour of the mouth and also a complete 40 minute discussion with our clients to really get to know what your concerns are regarding your teeth and your month and also then to explain how your needs can be met.
